Brushstroke Has a New Editor

Welcome to our new Laguna Woods Association President, Kathie Podliska!

Meet our New President

Kathie has enjoyed living in Laguna woods for 17 years. The first club she joined was LWAA and has been a very active member since 2006 serving as president, treasurer and on most committees. She brings a positive attitude to the club, believing that the best reward for her service has been the many friendships she has developed over the years. Kathie is very excited about working with all of you in 2023.

Your Art Association Board has welcomed the new Brushstroke editor, Anish Mohindru, to our communication team. He will also be submitting weekly updates in the Club News section of The Globe.

Announcements!

HER WORK BACKGROUND: She was an executive with an international Insurance brokerage firm providing her with opportunities to develop the many skills she uses today. She took early retirement at 62 so she could really enjoy all that Laguna Woods had to offer.

HER LIFE: She is a proud mother to three daughters, grandmother (nana) to ten, and great-grandmother (grandnana) of four. Her family is scattered around the country but always stays in touch. Kathie is also very proud of being a living organ donor and gave a kidney to her husband which provided them with several more years to enjoy their life together.

She has a dog named Rainbow, a “rescue” who surprised her with three puppies shortly after the adoption. Homes were found for the newborn, and now Kathie and Rainbow can often be found walking around CH5 - good exercise for both.

HER EXPERIENCE IN LAGUNA WOODS: Besides her experiences with LWAA, Kathie and her friend Leslie Davis were at the CH 5 pool one day in 2008 when they realized that there was no club that catered to the “still young and active” in the village. As a result, they founded the Baby Boomers, which continues to be one of the most popular clubs in Laguna Woods.

Kathie has always valued her career, her family, and her volunteering. She looks forward to 2023 as a year that promises to be filled with new art activities and adventures as well as opportunities to develop new friendships and strengthen old ones. She is very proud to be our president for 2023.
